Individual Counselling

In individual counselling sessions people usually explore whatever topic or issue they bring on the day or continue to evaluate and work on a concern or subject matter from previous sessions. I will assist you to elaborate what matters to you and most importantly to work with you at your pace. As a therapist I generally like to include creative activities where appropriate and useful. Talking therapy can be complimented well by expressing yourself creatively.

Life can pose many different challenges, change and unexpected situations that can leave us feeling shocked, overwhelmed, helpless or lonely to name a few emotions. It can be useful to re-visit and recognise our values, beliefs and ‘understanding of the world’ in order to establish what direction we would like to follow. Finding your own truth can help to understand yourself better, create connection to the self and others. Apart from that counselling supports the management of difficulties and strengthens your abilities to deal with them.

Sometimes people wish to process what happened in their past, which often impacts on the present. Counselling can help with this process in a safe, empathic and non-judgmental environment, where you will be listened to and heard. Coming to terms with burdensome and adverse life events from the past or the now can be difficult. In this context we can sometimes feel stuck, shamed and do not ‘look after ourselves’. Therefore, self-care can be an important aspect in counselling. I believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, dignity and positive regard.
