My Story
Hello, my name is Carola Tramsen and I live and work in South Yorkshire. I am a highly experienced mental health practitioner with more than 25 years of varied therapeutic expertise. Due to my passion for counselling and psychotherapy I have recently completed a Master’s degree in Contemporary Relationship Studies including family and couples’ therapy.
I have offered individual and couples’ counselling since 2021 in Doncaster and Sheffield alongside practising as a senior/clinical lead Occupational Therapist. One of my specific areas of interest is cultural difference and cultural competence in counselling, which has generally gained more importance over the last 15 to 20 years in the field of therapy. Furthermore, my research project in 2022 explored the value and impact of animal-assisted therapy on the counselling process as this is another area of my personal interest. I have implemented equine and canine-assisted therapy in my work in mental health for over 4 years.
Before my move to the UK in 2008, I worked as an Occupational Therapist in Germany. I also held lectures at the renowned Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Mannheim, Germany. I have always enjoyed working with a variety of clientele and provided support and therapy for adults of all ages. Additionally, I now offer therapy for individuals, couples, and family members in my own practice. I work integratively, which means utilising a variety of therapeutic modalities to tailor the sessions to people’s individual needs. I will not be able to give advice and believe that everyone has their answers within themselves. The counselling process will aim to explore what you feel, value and think, which often reveals answers, wishes and choices for your personal directions. I aim to support you to the best of my knowledge and to assist you in your personal journey within agreed expectations.
